From March 30 to April 1, 2026, Thai Nguyen University of Education welcomed professors from the Institute of Physics, National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University (Taiwan), for academic exchange and collaboration. During the visit, the professors introduced key aspects of the international joint Master’s dual-degree program to lecturers and students majoring in Physics at the university. This meaningful academic activity contributed to strengthening professional exchange, updating information on postgraduate training programs, and expanding opportunities for study, research, and international cooperation for lecturers, graduate students, and undergraduates of the Faculty of Physics.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mai Xuan Truong, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and Rector of the University, expressed his pleasure in welcoming the delegation of experts from the Institute of Physics, National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University, to visit and work at the university. He emphasized that the insights shared by the professors from the Institute of Physics are of great practical significance in improving training quality, promoting scientific research, and expanding academic cooperation, especially in the field of postgraduate education. He also noted that the valuable information provided by the professors would help lecturers, graduate students, and undergraduate students of the Faculty of Physics, as well as those interested in participating in the dual-degree Master’s program, gain a better understanding of the program structure, research orientations, and study opportunities in an international environment.

During the session with lecturers and students of the Faculty of Physics, scientists from National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University presented a range of practical and academically valuable topics. Professor Guey-Lin Lin from the Institute of Physics provided an overview of the Institute of Physics at National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University. He introduced key information about the institute’s history and development, its teaching and research environment, academic staff, facilities for learning and experimentation, as well as its academic strengths in modern physics. Through the presentation, lecturers and students gained a clearer understanding of a reputable education and research institution in Asia, thereby enhancing their awareness of study and research conditions in an international environment. Assoc. Prof. Hsing-Chih Liang from the Institute of Physics presented the topic “Educational and Career Opportunities When Studying at National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University.” The presentation focused on opportunities available to students participating in training programs at the Institute of Physics, including academic orientation, research environment, opportunities to join specialized research groups, and career prospects after graduation. He also introduced the dual-degree program, which opens up additional opportunities for study, experience, and development in an international academic environment. In addition, he shared several research directions and notable projects in the field of Physics, particularly those related to lasers and quantum physics, helping participants gain deeper insight into advanced research environments in Taiwan.

Another highlight that attracted significant interest was the introduction to research groups presented by Professor Hsin-Fei Meng and Assistant Professor Sut-Ieng Tam. Professor Hsin-Fei Meng introduced several prominent research directions in semiconductors, organic semiconductors, and related applications, including research on sensors for detecting kidney dysfunction through ammonia filtration in breath. Assistant Professor Sut-Ieng Tam shared research in astrophysics, such as dark matter, dark energy, galaxies in the universe, and the application of instruments, optical systems, and algorithms to analyze physical properties. Through these presentations, participants gained clearer insights into ongoing research at the Institute of Physics, as well as a better understanding of the connection between the Master’s program structure and the development of advanced research competencies in postgraduate education.

The discussion session was lively and open, with many questions from lecturers and students of the Faculty of Physics regarding the Master’s program, research orientations, opportunities to join international research groups, and prospects for further study. Representatives of the Institute of Physics delegation provided detailed responses and shared additional experiences in studying, researching, and working in international environments, offering valuable information and inspiration to participants.
