On December 11, 2024, a delegation from the Ministry of Education and Sports of the Lao People’s Democratic Republic, comprising officials from the Department of Student Affairs, the Department of Higher Education, and the Office of the Ministry, led by Ms. Dokkeo Phon-tha-chit – Acting Director of the Department of Student Affairs, visited and worked with Thai Nguyen University of Education (TNUE).
Accompanying the Lao delegation were representatives from the Education and Culture Section of the Lao Embassy in Vietnam and officials from the Department of International Cooperation, Ministry of Education and Training of Vietnam.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mai Xuan Truong – Rector, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tu Quang Tan – Vice Rector, together with leaders of TNUE’s units and Lao students studying at the University, warmly welcomed the delegation.
In his remarks, Rector Mai Xuan Truong extended his best wishes for health and success to the Lao delegation while introducing the nearly 60-year history and development of TNUE. He emphasized that, alongside its mission of training and fostering high-quality human resources for Vietnam, the University also regards the education and training of Lao students as one of its key strategic tasks. TNUE has built strategic partnerships with educational institutions in Laos and established scholarship policies for Lao students.
The University provides Lao students with modern dormitories, well-equipped facilities, and recreational spaces; offers additional academic support; and creates opportunities for cultural exchange. Many Lao students at TNUE have achieved awards in academics, scientific research, and Vietnamese eloquence contests for international students.
Ms. Dokkeo Phon-tha-chit, Acting Director of the Department of Student Affairs, Ministry of Education and Sports of Lao PDR, expressed her gratitude for the warm welcome from TNUE’s leadership, lecturers, and students. She highly appreciated the University’s achievements in managing, educating, and supporting Lao students over the years, and expressed her hope that the University would continue to care for their studies and daily lives.
During her meeting with Lao students currently studying at TNUE, Ms. Dokkeo Phon-tha-chit encouraged them to strive for excellence in both study and personal development, so that upon graduation they would be ready to contribute their knowledge and dedication to their homeland.
The delegation also visited TNUE’s modern dormitories for Lao students, the digital library, and the campus’s learning and sports facilities. They expressed their appreciation for the University’s friendly and well-equipped environment.
The visit of the Lao Ministry of Education and Sports delegation concluded successfully and meaningfully, in the joyful atmosphere of the 62nd anniversary of diplomatic relations and the 47th anniversary of the signing of the Vietnam–Laos Treaty of Friendship and Cooperation.
